So far in this module, we have covered a vast range of products, equipment and tools that are available for you to use. The kit you have been supplied with has all of the essentials that you will need to get yourself started. You always want to make sure that you have enough stock, but not too much stock, because tanning solutions, cleansers, and primers will have expiry dates. When you are starting out, it is good to develop a checklist to ensure you have everything you need for the coming week. As a starting point, we have created a checklist for you which lists everything in your kit:
As your kit grows, continue adding to your checklist so you can keep track of all the tools, products and equipment you need to efficiently and safely complete tan application services. While it may be tempting to get the cheapest possible products and tools, it isn’t always the best approach. Low-quality products are likely to cause contra-actions, and you don’t want to damage your reputation. That being said, just because something is expensive, it does not mean it is a miracle product. Always do your research, and if something seems too good to be true, it usually is!
There are products and equipment that we have covered in this module that are not in your kit, such as extraction fans, tanning tents, tanning booths and retail products. This is because these items are not essential when you are starting out. Are they nice to have? Will they make your job easier? Should you get them eventually? The answer is yes to all three questions! All businesses work within a budget, and especially when you are starting out, you will need to prioritise your expenses.
