4.3 Your supplied training kit

So far in this module, we have covered a huge range of products, equipment and tools that are available for you to use. The kit you have been supplied with has all of the essentials that you will need to get yourself started. You always want to make sure that you have enough stock, but not too much stock, as particular products such as lifting solutions, neutralisers, cleansers, and tints will have expiry dates.

There are products and equipment that we have covered in this module that are not in your kit. This is because these items are not essential when you are starting out. Are they nice to have? Will they make your job easier? Should you get them eventually? The answer is yes to all three questions! All businesses work within a budget, and especially when you are starting out, you will need to prioritise your expenses.

As you build out your kit, it may be tempting to get the cheapest possible products and tools, it isn’t always the best approach. Low-quality products are likely to cause contra-actions, and you don’t want to damage your reputation. That being said, just because something is expensive, it does not mean it is a miracle product. Always do your research, and if something seems too good to be true, it usually is!
