2.3 Keeping up-to-date with industry trends

The lash industry is always evolving, and there are new techniques and products that are continually being introduced. As a professional lash artist, it is essential that you are aware of and incorporate the latest fashion trends, styles, and products in your service offerings.

Much like the evolution of application techniques and styles, the tools and products we use are also continually evolving. Nowadays, there are numerous styles of lash combs, rods, shields, eye pads, adhesives, and solutions to help us to be more efficient with our time. Where there are safer and more nourishing solutions available, you will want to make sure that you take advantage of these product evolutions as they will not only improve your client’s lashes but they will also improve your skills and client retention.

You can keep up to date by:

  • Conducting research online
  • Attending industry events
  • Networking
  • Attending professional development workshops and training sessions

In addition to our own videos and content, throughout this course, you will see that we will provide a wide variety of links to external articles, videos and websites. Exposure to a range of sources and approaches is critical for you to build extensive skills and knowledge base. YouTube is an excellent source for inspiration, product reviews and guidance. However, as you will see in this course, there are a lot of inexperienced lash artists and people ‘giving it a go at home’ that can show you the true horrors of what can go wrong!

Because approaches, styles and techniques are continually evolving, it is good for you to have the ability to research and familiarise yourself with other professionals in the industry. If you are ever struggling with something as a lash artist, you can pretty much guarantee others are as well! Engage online, join industry groups, watch other lash artists on YouTube and contribute by sharing your own knowledge and expertise.
