The skin of the eyelids, however, consists of only two layers: the epidermis (which is much thinner than the epidermis of the scalp) and the dermis. As a result, the skin of the eyelid is much thinner than that on the scalp and the thinnest of any region of the body at less than 1mm in thickness.
The relative thinness of the skin layer in itself would suggest that the eyelids are a particularly delicate area of the human body. However, the skin of the eyelid also contains a relatively high amount of blood vessels and very little fat compared with other areas of skin. All of these characteristics combined equate to the skin of the eyelids being extremely susceptible to irritation and more prone to allergic reactions.
When determining the most appropriate lash style, at a minimum, what do you need to consider? Select six correct responses.

If your client comes to you with extensions in, you will need to remove damaged, sparse, or grown out eyelash extensions before you can commence.
Reorder the tasks listed in order of what comes first to what comes last in the lash removal process.
As with the hair on your scalp and body, eyelash hairs grow and shed (or fall out) in an ever-repeating cycle. The only difference when compared with the hair on other parts of the body is the length of the various stages of this cycle.
Thinking about the main three phases of the lash cycle, reorder each phase in order of what comes first to what comes last.

When determining the correct lash length, a general rule to follow is the ‘5mm rule’, meaning a lash is no more than 5mm longer than the client’s natural lash. Natural lashes can generally hold up to 20% more length. If you select lashes that are too long, this may decrease retention or cause breakage – which are two outcomes you will want to avoid!
For most clients, a safe lash diameter is 0.15mm, and most lash technicians will not use anything above 0.15mm. If your client has thinner lashes or you are going for a ‘classic lash style’, you will usually use a 0.10mm lash. If your client wants a thicker lash, say 0.18mm, you could counterbalance this increase in diameter with a shorter lash length.
Lash conversion between classic and volume lashes is fundamental for a lash technician. Match each classic lash diameter to the corresponding volume lash.
